As many of you have already noticed, there are some updates to http://grails.org that I would like to point out specifically:

Screencasts

You can now upload screencasts at http://grails.org/screencasts, as well as tag, comment, and download them.  Currently only .mov format is accepted.

News Blog

The News Blog has been renovated to provide you with better editing tools, and no more 300 character limit :).  You can also peruse all news items at http://grails.org/blog.

Comments

At the bottom of each wiki page and plugin, there is an area that displays comments from users.  You must be logged in to participate.

Plugin Portal

The plugin section of the site is no longer just a collection of wiki pages.  It is now a dynamically organized portal with search, tagging, ratings, and comments.  It is also updated daily with the most recent data from the codehaus servers on recently released plugins, so if you do a release-plugin, you can expect a Plugin page to be created automatically for you within 24 hours.

The main page at http://grails.org/Plugins will list the most popular plugins, newest plugins, and most recently updated plugins, as well as provide the latest comments and a wiki page for important messages.

There is also a complete plugin listing at http://grails.org/plugin/list that is grouped by tag.

When you click on a plugin, you'll be taken to that plugin's page, which reveals some meta data about it.  This data is mainly retrieved from the master listing, but you can edit some of the values yourself.  You may add and remove tags from plugins here, as well as rate them on a 5-star scale.  You'll also notice that there are four tabs within each plugin for you to break out your plugin information.  Each tab is editable just like a wiki page.  Your old wiki page (if you had one) has been placed into the "Description" tab.

Your assignments

We would love for your participation as we move to this new portal system.  Although we have run a transfer script that attempted to migrate all the old plugin data into the new format, it of course didn't get everything right.  So please correct the things that you notice are wrong and contact us if you see anything that you can't fix.

There is also a big list of untagged plugins at the end of the plugin listing: http://grails.org/plugin/list#untagged+tags.  Please help us by tagging them where they seem appropriate.

Also, you may notice that some plugins on the list have (RENAME ME!) beside them.  That means the transfer script could not identify its name, and assigned a temporary name to it based on its wiki title.  The name is editable through the plugin page, and it should be the same thing you type in the command line when you install the plugin with grails.  Please update the ones you know!
